Musicians in Need
Los Angeles, CA – October 15, 2024 – Global superstar YOSHIKI has donated
$100,000 to disaster relief for the areas devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
The acclaimed musician, filmmaker, and fashion designer, who is recovering from
emergency spinal surgery last week, made the donation through his 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization YOSHIKI Foundation America in partnership with the charitable foundation
MusiCares ® , a partner of Recording Academy ® / GRAMMYs ® . The funds will go toward
aiding in disaster relief for music professionals impacted by the recent hurricanes.
YOSHIKI – who had just returned to Los Angeles for medical treatment after the Paris
Fashion Week debut of his high-fashion brand Maison YOSHIKI Paris – said, “I hope to
raise awareness about the situation and encourage support for the victims. I believe my
involvement can help draw more attention, especially within Asia.”
YOSHIKI‘s donation continues the acclaimed musician’s humanitarian work, which
includes charitable support for numerous international emergencies, such as $100,000
in disaster relief for Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas in 2017. In 2021, YOSHIKI
established an annual grant of $100,000 for MusiCares to help music creators and
industry professionals affected by mental health concerns. Previously, YOSHIKI
donated $100,000 to MusiCares to help music professionals affected by the
Coronavirus pandemic. He has also supported various U.S. charities including Meals on
Wheels, the Make a Wish Foundation, and the Pablove Foundation in support of
childhood cancer research.
YOSHIKI is internationally recognized for his long-term philanthropic activities and has
donated over 3 million dollars to charity through YOSHIKI Foundation America. For his
prolific philanthropic endeavors, he was chosen by Forbes as one of “Asia’s Top 30
Heroes of Philanthropy” in 2019 and received a Medal of Honor from the Japanese
Government in 2021 for his support of the National Center for Global Health and
Medicine and ongoing charitable works.
Over the past year, YOSHIKI has maintained a rigorous schedule, producing music,
engaging in philanthropy, and releasing new products, including his new Rosé
Champagne under “Y by YOSHIKI” brand, while also completing a successful world tour
and his feature film directorial debut, YOSHIKI: Under the Sky. In 2023, YOSHIKI was
selected as the first and only Japanese artist to be honored with a hand and footprint
