YOSHIKI and Hiroshi Fujiwara Form Star-Studded Duo “BLUEBYRDS”
First Single “NOTHING” and Album “BLUEBYRDS” Out Now
Paris, October 4, 2024 — YOSHIKI‘s high-fashion brand, MAISON YOSHIKI PARIS,
made its debut at Paris Fashion Week on September 30. During the after-party, Hiroshi
Fujiwara made a surprise appearance and, together with YOSHIKI, announced that they
have formed a new musical duo, “BLUEBYRDS.”
Released globally on September 30, the first single, “NOTHING,” features a smooth flow
of percussion notes that are layered over a delicate piano chorus. Additionally, their
debut album, BLUEBYRDS, features a track-listing filled with addicting electronic ambient
songs that take the listener on sonic journey. BLUEBYRDS was released today (October

Hiroshi Fujiwara has been a significant influence in the music industry for decades and is
also well-versed in fashion, continually making an impact in various fields. The
collaboration of these two globally recognized figures leading Japanese culture is
expected to garner significant attention.

About Hiroshi Fujiwara:
Starting as a club DJ in the 80s, he formed TINNIE PUNX with Kan Takagi in 1985,
playing a dynamic role in the early days of Japanese hip-hop. In the 90s, he expanded
his activities to music production, composing, and arranging. In 2011, he formed AOEQ
with Yoichi Kuramochi of Magokoro Brothers and has since continued to perform with
musicians such as Hidefumi Ino, OKAMOTO’S, Yuna & Yuki (formerly of CHAI),
Shunsuke Watanabe (Schroeder-Headz), Jungo Miura (Petrolz), and Bancho (Wonderful
Boys). He is also a leading figure in global street culture, with significant influence in the
fashion industry.

About YOSHIKI:
YOSHIKI is a composer, classically trained pianist, rock drummer, and the leader of the
rock group X Japan. YOSHIKI was named “one of the most influential musicians and
composers in Japanese history” by Consequence and is described by Billboard as “a
musical innovator”. He is the first and only Japanese artist to be honored with a hand and
footprint ceremony at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood since the tradition began in
1927.

in the U.S., Europe, and Japan.
YOSHIKI is also a fashion icon who is the first Japanese male to appear on the cover of
Vogue Japan. In 2024, YOSHIKI‘s new high fashion brand MAISON YOSHIKI PARIS
debuted as part of the official calendar at Milan Fashion Week, followed by its debut at
Paris Fashion Week.
In March 2024, Variety chose YOSHIKI as the 2024 Honoree for International
Achievement in Music.
