Ali Wong was married to Justin Hakuta.

Justin Hakuta created a niche for himself in academics as a Fulbright scholar. He completed his graduation from Carnegie Mellon, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in decision science and a minor in Spanish. He further decided to pursue his field study in NGO’s Combating Human Trafficking in the Philippines, according to Carnegie Mellon University’s website. Hakuta received a Fulbright scholarship to fulfill his goals post-graduation. He further pursued his MBA at Harvard Business School and graduated in 2011.

Hakuta’s father, Ken Hakuta aka Dr. Fad, is a famous personality. He is a Japanese-American inventor who created a toy named Wacky Wall Walker in the 1980s. Additionally, Ken Hakuta is known for hosting the kid’s invention series from 1988 to 1994 called The Dr. Fad Show.

The couple had their first child in 2015 whom they named Mari. After two years, their second daughter Nikki was born.

Ali Wong and Justin Hakuta first crossed paths in 2010 at a mutual friend’s wedding. Wong opened up about their first meeting at one of her stand-up comedy specials. She stated:

“The first thing I learned about him was that, at the time, he was attending Harvard Business School. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to trap his ass.” (via People)

In 2014, Wong and Hakuta got married. At the time, she signed a prenuptial agreement and said how it motivated her to make her own money.

In April 2022, the couple announced their separation. However, Wong shared with The Hollywood Reporter in 2023 that they are best friends and have been through so much together. The comedian then filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences which was finalized in May 2024. She had also filed for the joint and legal physical custody of their kids.
