What Did Linda Ronstadt Say About Donald Trump? Instagram Explained
Legendary singer Linda Ronstadt released a scathing statement against Donald Trump, calling him “toxic” in a post on her Instagram. The 11-time Grammy Award winner originally didn’t want to say anything about the former president, but given that Trump is set to hold a campaign rally at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall of all places, she wanted to set the record straight. And let’s just say she didn’t mince any words.
Linda Ronstadt calls out Trump and J.D. Vance
Linda Ronstadt calls out Donald Trump for “his hatred of women, immigrants and people of color, his criminality, dishonesty and ignorance” in an Instagram post on September 20.
On specific policies, she skewers Trump for having “ripped apart migrant families” across the southern border, saying that it caused a “humanitarian catastrophe that Physicians for Human Rights said met the criteria for torture.” As for his rallies across America, she calls them a “hate show.”
If that weren’t enough, Ronstadt turns what Trump has said about Mexicans on its head. She says that while he warned about “rapists coming in from Mexico,” she was more “worried about keeping the rapist out of the White House.”
The singer didn’t forget about J.D. Vance, either. She fired back at the Trump’s running mate for his negative comments in 2021 about “childless cat ladies,” something which Taylor Swift also took offense to. Ronstadt reminds him that she adopted two children and also lives with a cat before officially endorsing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
Many other prominent figures have also given their endorsements to the Harris-Walz ticket, including Katy Perry, judge J. Michael Luttig, and jokingly Russian President Vladimir Putin.
A biopic film of Linda Ronstadt is still in production with actress Selena Gomez set to play the icon. The director for American Hustle, David O. Russell, has signed on to direct the movie as well.
