So here's the difference between the Marvel Comics and the SSU Venom film: In the Amazing Spider-Man comics, Peter Parker founds out that his costume is not really a suit at all but rather an alien lifeform that want to permanently bond with him after it got a taste of his powers. The Venom symbiote was rejected by its own race and was banished to Battleworld by the unknown being known as the Beyonder, the same being who mysteriously brought the superheroes including Spider-Man himself to same place and when Spider-Man's suit got damaged, he found a strange alien material that attached itself to him, making Peter's Spider-Man costume all black and slick. Peter Parker was forced to reject the symbiote after discovering its true identity and its main goal and uses sonic waves from the bell tower to force it off of him. Angry at the superhero betrayed it, the Venom symbiote found another host, a former journalist named Eddie Brock, who felt the same betrayal from Spider-Man after getting fired from his job and so when the former journalist and the rejected symbiote got together, they form the new superpowered alien being called Venom and their goal is to destroy the friendly neighborhood web slinger and anyone he loves. In the SSU film, after a faulty interview with the Life Foundation ruins his career, former reporter Eddie Brock's life is in pieces. Six months later, he came across the Life foundation again, and he comes into contact with an alien symbiote and they became Venom, parasitic anti-hero. In the SSU, the movie version of the Venom symbiote was also rejected by its race by the another alien symbiote called Riot, who is the leader of all races of symbiotes and Venom turned out to be a rejected loser, like Eddie Brock and that's how they came together to make a difference among themselves, instead of seeking revenge for what they loss.
