Don't steal stuff. I had a best friend dying in the hospital years back and someone (a nurse) took his cell phone, money from his wallet, and even some medicine (oxycodone for his neuropathy). So if this "trap" was punishing someone for stealing like that from a victim in a hospital – Jigsaw gets my hats off to him.

Everybody saying this is like the easiest challange and this dude is so lucky, and I guess he really is compared to the other challenges, ESPECIALLY the twisting one and the iconic reverse bear trap. But breaking your fingers hurts like HELL. and having to manually do it by yourself, knowing that one switch of a dial will immediately snap your finger and cause immense pain to stream through your body is awful. The pressure and overwhelming amount of dread knowing that either option will be awfully painful and you’ll probably die anyway just makes me shiver. Being strapped to literally ANY torture device in this setting would automatically be and feel 100x worse than just dying.
I just can’t see that happening… but then, neither could he.

Well , eyeball vacuum . THAT’s insidious. Old boy reacted to the fingers more than when his eyeballs were sucked out of their sockets. Weird.
I know people are saying that the breaking fingers task is not that bad, but I think that’s the point, this is John’s INITIAL idea of the trap. The idea started simple like this, but the task might’ve evolved into something much harder to do
maybe it would’ve changed to chopping off each finger (something like that finger chopping device in Resident Evil 7 comes to mind). the point is, this was the first idea of the design that he literally just thought of, and every prototype has it’s flaws that need ironing out
