Robert Pattinson in Talks to Star with Jennifer Lawrence in Die, My Love
Robert Pattinson is reportedly in talks to star alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Lynne Ramsay’s thriller Die, My Love.
The report comes from Deadline, which states that the Batman star is currently in negotiations to play opposite Lawrence for the first time.
Directed by Lynne Ramsay and written by Ramsay and Enda Walsh, the story of Die, My Love is set in a remote, forgotten rural area. It concerns a mother who struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis.
What is Die, My Love based on?
Die, My Love is based on a 2019 novel of the same name by Ariana Harwicz.
“In a forgotten patch of French countryside, a woman is battling her demons: embracing exclusion yet wanting to belong, craving freedom whilst feeling trapped, yearning for family life but wanting to burn the entire house down,” the novel’s description reads. “Given surprising leeway by her family for her increasingly erratic behavior, she nevertheless feels ever more stifled and repressed. Motherhood, womanhood, the banality of love, the terrors of desire, the brutality of ‘another person carrying your heart forever’: Die, My Love faces all this with a raw intensity. It’s not a question of if a breaking point will be reached, but rather when, and how violent a form will it take?”
Justin Ciarrocchi and Jennifer Lawrence produce via Excellent Cadavaer with Martin Scorsese and Andrea Calderwood.
Pattinson has steadily built up an impressively diverse CV in the last decade. Highlights include The Lost City of Z, The Safdie’s Good Time, Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, Claire Denis’ High Life, and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. His future roles include Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17 and The Batman Part II.
Die, My Love will see Lynne Ramsay back in the director’s chair for the first time since 2018’s You Were Never Really Here, starring Joaquin Phoenix. Ramsay is perhaps best known for the 2011 movie We Need to Talk About Kevin, which saw a mother (Tilda Swinton) reflecting on the life of her disturbed son (Ezra Miller).
Jennifer Lawrence is best known for The Hunger Games franchise but has also starred in the X-Men series, Darren Aronofsky’s Mother!, and last year’s sweet sex comedy No Hard Feelings.
Last month, it was revealed that Die, My Love would begin production this summer, but no release window was set.
