Razer Kraken V4 Pro Review: Fully Immersive Wireless Gaming Headset
The Razer Kraken V4 Pro is the brand’s best gaming headset yet, which is no small task given how Razer’s headsets have been at the top of the market. It’s the most immersive headset I’ve had the pleasure of using and is incredible for playing single-player games thanks to its Sensa HD Haptics. It’s also one of the most comfortable as well, so you’re getting the best audio experience possible.
The very first thing you notice while putting on the headset is just how comfortable it is to wear. The ear cushions use memory foam material that has been encased in full protein leather, which allows for better noise isolation and haptic feedback. Meanwhile, the form has been slightly improved from prior Kraken headsets, making it a sleeker design thanks to reduced earcup thickness and width. It’s also more comfortable to wear around your neck thanks to its swivel mechanism, which also helps with a better fit over the ears as well. This is really 12 years of refinement coming together and is the apex of the Kraken line.
The sound quality of the Razer Kraken V4 Pro is stellar thanks to its TriForce 40mm drivers that allow for individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows. The surround sound uses THX Spatial Audio to aid in sound positioning. Many of your favorite games will have custom THX game profiles, as well, which really help boost the experience. There are also four different audio equalizer profiles to choose from, so whether you’re watching a movie or listening to music, you are able to tweak the experience to how you want it to be.
The audio experience is made all the more immersive thanks to its Sensa HD Haptics. I was on the edge of my seat playing the Silent Hill 2 remake and listening to its eery sound design, while the action of Final Fantasy XVI never felt more exciting than with its Sensa HD technology providing near-instant haptic feedback. If you want a full-body experience, you can also pair it with the incredible Razer Freyja, which is a haptic gaming cushion.
Of course, being a Razer headset, there is bound to be plenty of OLEDs. The earcup features 9-Zone Chroma RGB lighting, which can be customized in an app and looks gorgeous. There are also multiple quick effects that can be turned on if you want to dazzle without messing around with settings for long. The Razer Kraken V4 Pro also comes with an OLED Control Hub, which allows you to easily customize everything from audio and haptic settings to the home screen. It’s incredibly easy to use and is a really great value add as it makes switching between modes and making adjustments super easy to do.
Since it is a headset, it’s great for not just listening to audio but also being able to communicate. The headset comes with a retractable microphone that has a 32kHz sampling rate, which is double the most of headsets. Not only do you get great vocal clarity, you also have four modes of connectivity at your disposal as you can connect to devices either via Razer’s HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, wired USB, or a 3.5mm connection. The Bluetooth is particularly handy as it features simultaneous 2.4 GHz wireless, allowing you to listen to two audio streams at the same time.
Razer Kraken V4 Pro Review: Final Verdict
If you want to better your gaming experience, the Razer Kraken V4 Pro is the headset for you. The Sensa HD Haptics are a game-changing addition and have allowed me to enjoy some of my favorite games even more than before. With all the functionality and comfort you could ask for, this is the most immersive high-end gaming headset currently available.
