No, ESPN Hasn’t Fired Shannon Sharpe, but Here’s the Latest Update

Former NFL legend Shannon Sharpe has landed himself in deep controversy after he accidentally outed his intimate interactions on an Instagram live. The retired tight end, who has won three Super Bowls during his playing career, currently serves as a talk show host at ESPN’s First Take. Due to the recent video leak, many have wondered if Shannon Sharpe has been fired from his duties by ESPN.

Here are all the details about the ex-Denver Broncos player’s ‘sex tape’ controversy.

At the time of writing, Shannon Sharpe has not been fired by ESPN.

In fact, the sports entertainment juggernauts have not shared any comments regarding the NFL icon’s fate at the organization. The eight-time Pro Bowl nominee experienced a massive lapse of judgment on Wednesday. Shannon Sharpe was conducting an Instagram live on his account and had over 6,000 fans watching his stream.

During the real-time broadcast, the 56-year-old celebrity was heard engaging in sexual encounters with a woman. As soon as the shocking news was made privy to him, Sharpe proceeded to delete the Instagram livestream from his profile, presumably to prevent a viral video leak. As per The US Sun, he initially responded by stating that his account was hacked.

Nevertheless, Sharpe has since rescinded his claims and has accepted his inadvertent mistake on the Nightcap Show. “I’m embarrassed. I’m someone that’s extremely private. The audio was heard for the entire world to hear,” the NFL Hall of Famer revealed. “I always try to be professional even when behind closed doors. I’m very disappointed in myself. Not for the act but for the audio to be heard.”

Despite the distressing video leak, Shannon Sharpe has not been fired from his job at ESPN, as of yet. The footballer-turned-analyst only signed a contract extension with ESPN in July, which would see him take on more responsibilities across the channel. While ESPN hasn’t fired Sharpe at the time of writing, his recent controversy could encourage the organization to rethink the extent of their relationship with him.
