I won’t lie I love to watch this movie every so often and never get tired watching. This movie had an excellent plot carried out by a stellar cast of stars.
If you have headphones or earbuds connected to your phone, you can hear the dramatic music start to swell right after Ray says, "Where you goin', Biscuit?" 🥺😔💔
The best comedies are the ones that are also deep and Life had many deep moments like, the prisoners escaping reality in Ray's Boom Boom Room, Claude in the 1970s looking at world he doesn't recognize because he's been on the jail property for 40 years and sees an old man staring back at him in the reflection of a car window & this heartbreaking scene of Biscuit choosing death because he feels he can no longer function outside of prisoner & his family wouldn't accept who he's become during his incarceration. What really gets me everytime in this scene is how Hoppin Bob had him in his sights and just couldn't pull the trigger leaving the guard in the tower to shoot and kill him. I have no idea how this movie was mostly panned by critics, which is why I never take critic reviews and Rotten Tomatoes scores seriously
(Rhythm 🎵 and Blues music 🎼 playing; Jangle 🦵🏼 Leg 💃🏾 🕺 is 🪩 dancing with a lady 🧑🏾 in a red dress 👗; Biscuit and Ray sits on a 🪵 wooden steps watching them) Ray: (talking to Biscuit) Come on now. Forget that, man 👨. She don’t mean nothin’ to him. Don’t pay 💰 that no 👎 mind. Biscuit: (talks to Ray) The hell with him. It ain’t that. (Ray 👀 looks at Biscuit looking 👀 very depressed 😔 and sad 😢) Ray: Then what’s your problem? 🪑 Sittin’ ‘round 👀 lookin’ all sad 😞 and s**t. It’s almost 😅 all right in here today. Almost 😅. (Biscuit pulls out an envelope ✉️ and hands 🙌 it over to Ray and reads it) Ray: What’s this? (Ray opens up ⬆️ the envelope ✉️ and reads the release form of Biscuit’s) Ray: This is a release form, man 👨. You gettin’ out this motherf**ker. What you sittin’ ‘round 👀 lookin’ all sad 😞 for? Biscuit: What am I gonna do out there, Ray? I can’t go home 🏡 to my mama like 👎 this. Ray: Man 👨, that s**t you talkin’ is crazy 😝. Your mama’s gonna be happy 😊 to see 👀 you when you get home 🏠. Biscuit: (sighs) Not 👎 like 👎 this, Ray. Ray: Hey 👋, 👀 look, the whole world 🌎 done ✅ changed a lot. It’s 1945, boy 👦.
2024 Can't believe it's been 25 Years Since this Classic Scene and Movie 🎥🍿. "Life" is an Underrated 💎💎. Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence Are Certified LEGENDS and Both Deserves Their Flowers 🌹🌹. Rest in Peace to The King Of Comedy Bernie Mac 😞 🙏🕊️
This scene is deep on so many levels. First you have the institutionalized factor of biscuit and he sees the prison as his home and then you have the LGBTQ part where he knows he won’t be accepted when he gets out to his own family nonetheless. Theres another element that some often miss which is the community aspect of hoppin Bob and the warden. As cruel and mean as they are they still deep down have a heart and care about these guys but the guard in the tower has no connection to them at all and just sees them as convicts so he has no issue with pulling the trigger. This is so deep and it’s perfectly display and analogous to real life prisons and the guards at auscwitz and guards in the tower. They aren’t allowed near the prisoners so they don’t build any connections to them emotionally.
It's understandable him feeling that way. My younger brother spent a lot of time in an out of prison and he passed away in 2020 but after he passed away my older brother told me about a conversation that he had with my younger brother and he said that he realized that my younger brother had spent so much time imprisoned that That's where he felt comfortable He told me after my younger brother got out the second time he had told my older brother that he wanted to go back I didn't realize then how institutionalized my brother had become and that's kind of what happened with biscuit he was institutionalized. Breaksmy heart my brother is gone I miss him a lot And he was only 34 years old But he couldn't escape his addictions. His demons.
It hurts cause none of the guards wanted to shoot him…. Everyone loved him there.
What’s the song at the end?
Can't believe this masterpiece is nearly 25 years old. One of Eddie Murphys best films in my opinion and Martin Lawrence was superb too.
BISCUIT

Bisquit REALLY did not want to see his momma again.
Terrific acting
He’s just gonna end up back in L.A. prison as a member of the deuce gang with OG Bobby Johnson
Sad seen but when the guy said where you going boyyyyy lmao had me dying
That man would have been released the year Ww2 ended..
I understood this scene more when i got older.
One of the best things about this movie, is how well it mixed comedy and drama.
If you have headphones or earbuds connected to your phone, you can hear the dramatic music start to swell right after Ray says, "Where you goin', Biscuit?" 🥺😔💔
this prooves that listening to a potential suicide is better than talking
most relaxed prison in the world director only focused on drama
To a certain extent, what Biscuit does here mirrors what “Brooks” did in The Shawshank Redemption… 😔

This is one of the best movies I have seen in my 50 yr life
Sad movie
Can anyone tell me the little piece of music at the end when Bernie is going to Biscuits body?
Tragic to think the only way he felt he could be free was to die. Even the guards were heart broken…
Crazy…think about it! Prisoner killing another prisoner because he thought he was trying to be free
Damn I bout cried that quick. Woo let me get back to work
"It's almost alright in here today". "almost "….
“Where you going biscuit” funny asf 😂 but sad situation
Isnt that George Floyd
One of the best films EVER
This is a classic example of how NOT to handle someone who is crying out for help. It can cause them to feel more alone and desperate
This was so sad. Biscuit only felt safe in prison.
Ray is so right. Biscuit's momma would love him no matter what .😢

Hoppin Bob not taking the shot..
So sad he couldn’t be his self
Biscuit!!!😂😂😂
How you going to shoot someone that had their release papers?

I'm rewatching this scene after YEARS and it aged phenomenally.

This might be a comedy, but sad to say, this is how black people were treated back in the day.😢
Deep down biscuit wanted to get killed he couldn’t handle the pressure seeing he didn’t know if his mom would accept him for who he is
Lol jang alang dancing lol 😂😂 oh man 👞👞
Very Woke movie,, 👎🏼
