It's interesting how it seems that people love this or hate this. I love it. Personally, I think the imperfections are what make it perfect. Her character is in a deep state of suffering, bordering on sobbing. She sounds exactly how she is supposed to.

The most relatable song in musical theatre I'm afraid
The sound of the whole movie is awful. Having seen the musical on stage numerous times makes me think that the makers haven't. They could have given the voices a tiny bit of hall to make the voices sound fuller. But this is just dry sound. It makes the movie almost unwatchable.

samantha and hadley were some of the best parts of this movie imo. sucks the latter had such a minor role with only one line
A subtle part of her tragedy is that her parents were cruel to Cosette, thus unfairly placing a kind of "peaked in gradeschool" shadow on Eponine's life in comparison to Cosette's.
