You can see Ted’s wife Leyanne – in the brown outfit / brown bikini top – long brown hair. It’s where they met! Amazing he is still playing Jesus on stage!
This part of the movie in 1974 wanted me to be a dancer in movies or musicals. But it never happend unfortunately, but when I watch it now, I get the same vibe with 60 as I got back then. Amazing!!! Choregraphy, so ever top!
Leave the sheer artistry of this scene aside. It is amazing. Instead let us focus on the Mexican standoof here. There is the godliness of Jesus. The human focus of Judas Iscariot. And the national self-determination to the point of corruption of Simon Zelotes. This is such a profound moment we should wrestle it away from religion. This is one of the "rend unto Cesar" moments that will either make Jesus seem utterly unsuitable or ultimately godly. Be exclusively spiritual or become involved in worldly stuff. The moment this religion will become involved in politics it will invalidate itself and make the ultimate sacrifice of Judas Iscariot meaningless.
Love how they are portrayed as frantic, manical. Them talking about adding a drop of hate to multiply his power. Its the perfect definition of a zealot. Jesus looking at Judas who looks away in distaste at the rabble. Poor poor Judas.
I was fortunate to see the movie Easter Sunday. I saw it when I was a teenager. But this time Ted Neely and Yvonne and Larry (Simon) and Kurt (Annas) were there in person watching it with us. Hallelujah!
what a clip, you can tell the passion of the dancer and the singer, theres nothing more to say that this is an stellar achivement of what a great dancers great singer and great musicians can achieve
Jesus had nothing against Rome…he prayed for the soldiers who were executing him and both he and his Father inspired Paul to write his letter to the Romans.
I believe Ted Neeley (Jesus) met his still wife, Leeyan Granger, during this movie's production. She can be seen in this number, the brunette with long hair pulled back wearing dark clothing and exposed midriff.
I just watched Jesus Christ Superstar yesterday for the first time on Easter with my guitar and piano teacher and his wife. The whole movie was great, but this song was a standout for me. Everyone really put 100% into this performance, and it shows. It's truly incredible.
Why hasn't this number ever been recreated in one of the many stage productions that have been staged since? It would sure beat any version that isn't this version. Would be thrilling to see this live in front of you onstage. The mind boggles as to why it has never been done.
Since Jesus is just a normal man in this version, I'm going to assume his super power was teaching everyone how to sing and dance together really well.
Ah, the precursors to the American Shakers. Oh Bretheren ain't you happy? That's an understatement with this dance scene. Great choreography! Great acting! You can tell Judas is jealous…
You'll get the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Every single Judas reaction face could be a meme, just saying.
Jesus: the first influencer to be cancelled 😢

1:19 buggin off the percs
Jesus vanishing smile when Simon asked him to spread the hate for Rome ;_;
While Judas is looking both troubled but also worried
Also claps claps for the guy that played Simon, his voice is amazing! he truly shares joy!
A fractal of a MASTERPIECE
I wouldn't do it for the power or the glory.
I would, however, do it for the chicks.
He is very zealous. This is one of the best scenes and performances

Me encanta la cara de "jesucristo " cuando dice Simon " Add a touch of hate at Rome " Eso es la esencia de Cristianismo
Larry Marshall totally spazzed out for this scene.

Hallelujah!
U get power the power and the glory I saw this at the casamiyana
See Mary Magdalene joining in the dance at the ending!
Jesus seemed so confused and uneducated on the real world….such a weenie.
My facial expression is the same as Judas’s. I’m with Judas on this one, lol.
Zealot. That actor nailed it!

Yeeehaaaaa! Thanks!
Jesus had nothing against Rome…he prayed for the soldiers who were executing him and both he and his Father inspired Paul to write his letter to the Romans.
the greatest musical "amen" of all time at the end
Simon Zealotes has perhaps the most fanatical eyes I've ever seen….
I still get chills watching this…the performance is so passionate
I never thought I would identify with Judas so much
I just watched Ted Neeley singing his song Gesethemane song in 2023, and the man still has it.
real life muppet
I'm not even a Christian and I love this musical. The music is SO GOOD.
The Choreography is Off the Chart 📈 executed by Beautiful Performers.
My favorite scene is when the people where dancing in different types of speeds, fast and slow.👼😄

Love this film
Ta blondyna dziala na wobraznie.
how does Simon gets his eyes like that?
love this movie since my first time back in late 70's
Couldn't they afford more spears? Did they really have to replace them with assault rifles? 🤣
Apoteosis hippy
One of the most electrifying scenes in movie history.
Ted Neeley is one of the best actors to portray Jesus. His demeanour and acting are spot on.

The 2012 one is better in my opinion
Боже! Какие они все крутые!❤❤❤

Always disappointed this cuts off Jesus' response how neither Simon nor the 50K understood what power was
This is pretty much how I see religious people.
"I believe in hearing God" Lord show yourself to this demented world please.
