Excalibur (1981) – Arthur’s Knighthood Scene (1/10) | Clip
Excalibur – Arthur’s Knighthood: King Arthur (Nigel Terry) gives Sir Uryens (Keith Buckley) the choice to give him his Knighthood …

The film of films.
Always thought Arthur resembled Luke Skywalker 🤔
Uryens was the only knight not to lose faith and it was his faith that inspired Persival to rekindle his faith and get the grail.
Wagner's music works well here!
The best film of King Arthur's legend.
Lol Sir Ector in the background is kneeling like the old beat up man his it!
Strange to think this movie came out 6 years AFTER Monty Python and the Holy Grail!
"In the name of God, St. Michael and St George!"
I have this one DVD , classic forever
My favorite part of an otherwise awesome movie. Why can't we have modern movies like this? I don't even go to the theatre anymore (Dune being an exception). Where is the heroism and bravery in movies nowadays such as this….very frustrating. This movie is damn near perfect.
The fact this is done in water is wonderful as well. It is baptism and rebirth.
of all of the knighting scenes in movies i have seen, this one is THE definitive one. were i to, by some strange twist of fate, be knighted, i'd pull the guy doing it aside ahead of time, and be like 'look, you need to say these exsct words…'
Zak Snyder's favorite film
If there is ever a dark souls/ elden ring film, this hast to be the look of it

Still packing a wallop, 43 years later:
Courage Chivalry Loyalty Duty Honor Justice
The essence of our Western heritage.
Perfection
This movie is great. It has been made so.e 20 years after I was born and I love it, watched it 2 times. It's marvelous
Its a great scene, but I like how the horses drink so heartily from the water
Goosebumps all over in just one minute. This will never be topped, ever.
What a load of Uryen.
I also need Battle Lords!!!
Uma das melhores cenas do cinema, e uma das melhores representações de luta medieval em filmes, Aço contra aço, ferro e sangue. Nada de golpes cheios de malabarismo, é pancada bruta entre homens de armadura
My favorite part of the Movie. So amazing. This brings me to tears everytime. Everything said and done here by these two men is so damn righteous. Even as I type, I shed tears.
Is Excalibur the most powerful non nuclear weapon on Earth?
Excalibur utter death
EPIC !
1:04 Patrick Stewart had few good swings with that axe. Lots of raspberry jam on it.
While this is undoubtedly the most visually stylized and quirky of all theatrical adaptations of the Arthurian legend, it still stands as the best of them. And as a bonus it features Captain Picard as a knight, foreshadowing the eventual real world knighting of Patrick Stewart.
Best scene ever!
It always tears me up seeing such humility and honor those things make a man great.
Υπέροχο,πολύ βρετανικό.
Τέλειο.
Jean Luc says "Make it so"
Best scene in movie history
Your not mistaken if you think that Knight in the background looks like Darth Vader. The costume designer was a huge fan of Star Wars particularly Vader.
When he begins to knight Arthur chills everytime
Gid the armour in this movie was on whole other level.
From a D&D standpoint. Excalibur is an Artifact weapon. To touch it is to have your alignment changed to Lawful Good. The moment that Arthur gave him the sword his Alignment changed from more of a Chaotic Neutral out for himself to the Acoustic and Honorable Lawful Good. After the change he was forced to realize Arthur as the one true King. That is the kind of thing a true Artifact Weapon can do.
The most moving scene of the whole film – that is full of moving scenes
Will their armour not rust?
Jean Luc Picard is there
still by far the best telling of the legend of Arthur. "Excalibur" will never be surpassed.
Arthur's Speech level increased to 99
This movie was done very well. I enjoyed it the first time I saw it. It will remain in my mind the point of the best😅
Loved this movie in the 80s.
This has got to be the Best Knighthood Quote ever!!!
Bornean really captures the essence here. This movie is a Masterpiece!
Some would call this silly, but they don't understand the context, as Arthur knows a sword from a stone does not make him a king but rather his skill in battle, his bravery, and his willingness to throw himself into death's face without fear yet the nobility to kneel before a knight that would quickly kill him as slaying a common thief to gain Excalibur's power yet gain the trust and loyalty of that said knight is empowering. He went from a common boy who got lucky to being the only one truly worthy of Excalibur, Uryen realizes Excalibur wasn't in the hands of a simple squire but rather a noble warrior his pride shunned and he failed to recognize dishonoring himself knowing he could not pull such feats. Even Merlin, knowing something similar would play out, but not so soon as that's how his powers work, sees the outcome, just not how it comes to pass.
Pure whiteness from back in the day
