With the exception of the cows, it looks like everyone else made it out okay! : ) Dare I say it, most people were shaken, not stirred!!! Ok, ok move along.
I'm an authentic Valley Girl who lived through the authentic 1971 Sylmar quake, and although no authentic cattle cars fell on our house at six in the morning, all of us Valley kids did authentically get out of going to school for the remainder of the week. Good authentic times!
I watched this at the Uptown Theater in Washington, D.C. (doesn't exist any more) when it came out. The theater had Sensurround – some gadget that made a low grade vibration during the earthquake scenes that made you feel like you were actually in an earthquake. Ahead of it's time.
Where were the cats? Whenever there's a disaster in a movie (hurricane, meteor, predatory ghoul, ship sinking, tornado, etc.), some character always runs into the destruction to rescue a cat. It's a rule, I think, among writers.
Missing from this scene was the "Sensurround" gimmick. This was supposed to help you feel the earthquake. I saw this in the theater and all it was was loud sounds IMO.
Hayward fault is dooming!

EMERGENCY
Earthquake 1974 movie
Why have a house on stilts on a hill in an earthquake zone??? That's just asking for trouble.x
1:42
How the boy flew to the ground. 😂
And American houses really are just made of cardboards. Europeans would be safe
That way so the earthquake by getting under the car or desk if your in school or so the earthquake won't hurt you
The debre faling off the buildings, and the house falling down have aged like fine wine.
Looks terrible
MOVIEEEEEEEEEE
I love the movie they were watching at the start! High Plains Drifter (1973) with Clint Eastwood! 😎👍
Yep a reason to not have a house on stilts 😂😂 or live in California
