In the past few years, House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey has been acquitted of multiple sexual assault charges in two separate trials. Spacey continues to face sexual misconduct allegations from several men. Moreover, the actor was very recently at the center of Channel 4’s explosive documentary, Spacey Unmasked. He has denied all claims and has criticized the documentary, calling it “one-sided.”

Sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey first surfaced in 2017. Over the years, the two-time Oscar winner has faced several cases, including allegations by actor Anthony Rapp. Reportedly, Rapp had accused Spacey of sexually assaulting him in the 1980s when he was only 14. He also faced charges of nine additional counts of sexual assault in the UK stemming from four separate cases.

In 2022, Kevin Spacey first stood trial on the charges filed by Anthony Rapp in New York, and a jury acquitted him. Variety reported that the following year, Spacey’s UK trial occurred, and the court acquitted him again.

The documentary Spacey Unmasked also premiered in the US on Investigation Discovery. The film comprises interviews with 10 other alleged victims who recount their horrific encounters with the actor.

Has Kevin Spacey admitted to allegations despite being acquitted?

According to Fox 59, Kevin Spacey denied all sexual assault allegations over the years. However, in a recent interview with Piers Morgan, the actor admitted that he has been “too handsy” in the past. Additionally, he revealed the bank foreclosure on his house due to the millions he owes legal fees from the trials. Spacey claimed he neither has a permanent residence nor money.

During his interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Spacey had a brief breakdown due to his current home and financial situation. He has been defending himself against sexual allegations since 2017, when the claims first surfaced. The House of Cards actor also went to court twice, and both instances concluded with acquittals. While denying the sexual abuse, he did admit to having “pushed boundaries” at times, reported Forbes.

Twice acquitted, Kevin Spacey has now confessed to “touching someone sexually.” He claimed to have done it “in a way that I didn’t know at the time they didn’t want.” The 64-year-old believes he may have “pushed the boundaries” by “being too handsy.” However, the Oscar winner maintained he was unaware it wasn’t consensual at the time. He claimed, “I personally have caressed people, I have been gentle with people; that is the way that I am.”

During the Piers Morgan interview, Spacey, for the first time, took responsibility for his actions. He did not directly admit to the sexual abuse but told Morgan that he is “absolutely 150% prepared to take accountability.”

After a jury acquitted of charges filed by actor Anthony Rapp, Kevin Spacey directly addressed the allegations in the interview. Rapp had alleged that he was a teen when Spacey assaulted him in the 80s. The latter insinuated that his accuser had a “faulty memory.” He said he hopes that the Star Trek: Discovery actor will come to terms with that someday.

Moreover, recent reports following the Piers Morgan interview claim that Kevin Spacey’s net worth has depleted in recent years. According to Marca, the Oscar winner, whose worth was once more than $70 million in 2022, is facing bankruptcy. He revealed the debt amount to be “considerable” and “many millions.”

Spacey’s downfall began in 2017 when he first faced sexual assault allegations. The actor has a few acclaimed projects under his belt, including Horrible Bosses, American Beauty, Baby Driver, Seven, and several other hits besides House of Cards. He also made a directorial debut in 1996 and later started Trigger Street Productions, his own production company, in 1997.

Channel 4’s Spacey Unmasked documentary is now streaming on Max.
