  1. One of the best scenes. It’s incredible dialogue. How he turned the table around back to Nicolai. Nicolai said he doesn’t possess any sentimental. That Robert was a lint or a bottle cap. And he gave him a storyline by a boy who killed his foster parents. And told him that the boy decided not to find out if the good man was about to throw him out of his home, like lint or a bottle cap. It’s amazing writing!

  2. Everybody talks about Denzel. He’s amazing that’s a given. But this other guy is extraordinary too. Whew, what a great villian. His face, his body language, the portrayal of total apathy. Yea he’s great.

  3. When MacCall asks him "What do you see when you look at me?" The answer is "nothing". In the begining Nikolai said "nothing" because he meant that McCall is irrelevant.

But when McCall implies it, it has a different meaning. It means there is "nothing" inside of him. It is like looking into the abyss.

  4. Although Nicolai is Villain but he is more stable mentally and remain cold and unaffected throughout the confrontation. I like his way of speaking when he say : you hit me like a sentimental person Mr Macoy .but i dont posses that chip i believe that it brings only weakness . And that is actually true . Emotions, showing them to someone is just like bleeding next to a shark . in this scene we are judging them based on Good and bad .But other than that sometimes villain is more charming . Weak person always speaks more.

  5. I wonder if that moment at 0:53 where Nikolai gulps a bit before saying "lint" was intentional or not because thats the exact moment that McCall sees the weakness in him and just lets it simmer before breaking out into the very history of Nikolai.

  6. "I've done some bad things in my life, Nicolai, things I'm not proud of. I promised someone I love very much that I would never go back to being that person…But for you, I'll make an exception." – Robert McCall 👊💥

  7. “What do you see when you look at me?” are the words of a man that promised someone he LOVED that, he’d “never return to his former ways of killing in cold blood.” What Nicholi saw was a man who had nothing in between himself, and the death he would soon deliver as a broken promise.” In other words, all that would keep Nicholi alive, in terms of compassion, regret? wasn’t going to save him. That’s a line only Denzel could deliver, with an unmatched emotion — only he could show on screen. Powerful and brilliant acting doesn’t even begin to explain this depth. It’s like dude went into the void and forgot how to come back out. Denzel went deep for this role. Everything else in his repertoire was Disneyland compared to this!
