Halo TV Series Canceled at Paramount Plus

Paramount Plus video game adaptation Halo has been canceled after two seasons, but hope remains for Master Chief.

Paramount confirmed the news without explaining the cancelation but did offer thanks to those involved in the show in a statement from a Paramount Plus spokesperson.

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward,”

Hope for Halo

But it might not be the end of the show. According to Deadline, Amblin Television, Xbox, and 343 Industries are looking to shop Halo around to get a third season elsewhere.

Halo Season 2 ended earlier this year, and there was no sign of a cancelation or a renewal until now. The Season 2 finale was filled with death and ended with a cliffhanger that may now go unresolved (in the series, anyway).

The Halo series has run for two seasons and 17 episodes since its March 2022 debut. It is based on the hit video game series Bungie, which debuted on the original Xbox. The shooter franchise is set in the 26th century and follows the adventures of Master Chief, a genetically enhanced soldier who leads a team of Spartans against alien threats to humanity.

Fans of the games had very mixed feelings about the show and especially how it represented Master Chief. But it overcame that rocky start to make it through to a second season.

Steven Kane and Kyle Killen created the series while David Wiener acted as showrunner and executive producer. It starred Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief. He was joined on the cast by Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Natascha McElhone, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, and Jen Taylor.
