The Collector 3 Gets Exciting Update
Things are looking good for The Collector 3, as director Marcus Dunstan has confirmed that the “legal entanglements” surrounding the film franchise are now being resolved, allowing the third installment to move forward years after it was initially announced.
Originally created as a spin-off to the Saw film series, the supposed John Kramer origin story became a standalone feature in 2009, starring Josh Stewart. The film then continued in 2012 with The Collection. Though the next chapter, titled The Collected, had been put on hold despite having already started filming, Dunstan confirmed that it is now finally “free” and that fans can expect the third one to be “mad scary.”
What is in The Collector 3 update?
“If anybody wanted to know what was up with The Collector, less than 24 hours ago, after five years of legal entanglements, The Collector is free. The Collector’s coming back, and it’s going to be mad scary … wait until you see that sucker hit. It’s five years, man. I kid you not, five years ago I was packing for Atlanta for our first run at doing a third,” Dunstan told ComicBook.
He added, “We weren’t to trespass into that until it could be the best one. Every next movie has a chance to be the best movie … #AMFAD: All My Friends Are Dead has humor, has hope, has other emotions, and really uppercase humor for a while to get us through the character development, then we use it more sporadically to keep people off rhythm. The Collector has been about that space in the darkness where you have two choices, terror or heart. And there’s a mental place to go for everybody … We’re going into the pitch, pitch dark.”
The director’s next project, #AMFAD: All My Friends Are Dead, is set to hit theaters on August 2. Meanwhile, Dunstan didn’t provide any information regarding the production’s resumption, but with “legal entanglements” no longer an issue, it’s only a matter of time before fans can get another promising The Collected update.
