The first third of this movie is so incredible that I didn't get why this movie got so much hate. And then it just goes into a downward spiral as soon as the son becomes the main focus and they kill off the dad.
From shutting the door and losing your wife, because of the nuclear threat, to the faint knocks, Juliet taking off her mask so she could look at her husband's eyes for the last time and telling him to take care of their son – the double doors closing as their eyes are locked onto each other. It hit all the boxes for a masterpiece of a scene.
When I was younger while watching this movie (around 7 or 8) this scene made my heart absolutely race, just being at the door waiting and watching down a long hallway and then just seeing mist/fog just race towards you.
I remember seeing this in theaters, and it was just me… damn… the emotions on his face when he had to push the button just made me tear up… (2:08) imagine the love of your life and all of those still in there, didn't come close to the exit point, and only what followed was that vapor from the reactor… and with no choice you had to make the decision… that scream of anguish is what hit me..

My favorite part is HOW DID THRY MAKE THESE RED AND AMBER LIGHTS FLASH SO GOOD? SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH
Stop crying it’s just a movie.
The movie…
Think of that Fukushima disaster 3 years from this film's making. The horrors happened that time could be double scary than this scene alone.
Amazing acting I remember watching this in the theatre forgot it was a godzilla movie. Cranston and Binoche were spectacular here
I guess he wasn’t the one who knocks
