This part of the movie in 1974 wanted me to be a dancer in movies or musicals. But it never happend unfortunately, but when I watch it now, I get the same vibe with 60 as I got back then. Amazing!!! Choregraphy, so ever top!

Leave the sheer artistry of this scene aside. It is amazing. Instead let us focus on the Mexican standoof here. There is the godliness of Jesus. The human focus of Judas Iscariot. And the national self-determination to the point of corruption of Simon Zelotes. This is such a profound moment we should wrestle it away from religion. This is one of the "rend unto Cesar" moments that will either make Jesus seem utterly unsuitable or ultimately godly. Be exclusively spiritual or become involved in worldly stuff. The moment this religion will become involved in politics it will invalidate itself and make the ultimate sacrifice of Judas Iscariot meaningless.

I was fortunate to see the movie Easter Sunday. I saw it when I was a teenager. But this time Ted Neely and Yvonne and Larry (Simon) and Kurt (Annas) were there in person watching it with us.

I believe Ted Neeley (Jesus) met his still wife, Leeyan Granger, during this movie's production. She can be seen in this number, the brunette with long hair pulled back wearing dark clothing and exposed midriff.

Why hasn't this number ever been recreated in one of the many stage productions that have been staged since? It would sure beat any version that isn't this version. Would be thrilling to see this live in front of you onstage. The mind boggles as to why it has never been done.
