Apartment 7A: Rosemary’s Baby Prequel Rated R for ‘Violent Content & Drug Use’
Paramount‘s Rosemary’s Baby prequel Apartment 7A has been rated R. It’s been given for ”some violent content and drug use by the Motion Picture Association.
Natalie Erika James helmed the prequel, which wrapped filming in 2022 and is expected to hit Paramount+ exclusively this Halloween.
The movie is “set in 1965 New York City, and tells the story prior to the legendary horror classic Rosemary’s Baby. It explores what happened in the apartment before Rosemary moved in. When a struggling, young dancer suffers a devastating injury, she finds herself drawn in by dark forces when a peculiar, well-connected, older couple promises her a shot at fame.”

Apartment 7A is directed by Natalie Erika James, who is known for helming 2020’s Relic. The script was co-written by James, Christian White, and Skylar James, while John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller serve as producers. Vicki Dee Rock and Alexa Ginsburg are executive producers.
Rosemary’s Baby was released in 1968. Directed by Roman Polanski, it starred Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon, and Sidney Blackmer. It is considered one of the greatest horror movies of all time. It is a tough act to follow. However, with many sequels and remakes coming over the years, Apartment 7A is not the first to try.
