Spider-Man Noir Live-Action Series Gets New Title, Casts Lamorne Morris
New Girl’s Lamorne Morris has been cast alongside Nicolas Cage in the upcoming Spider-Man Noir series, which is titled Spider-Noir.
Based on the Spider-Man Noir Marvel comic, Spider-Noir is a forthcoming live-action series that will see Cage reprise the role he initially portrayed in animated form in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Per Deadline, Morris has been cast as Robbie Robertson in Prime Video and MGM+ Marvel series. The series, according to a May 2024 Variety article, was previously being referred to just as “Noir” but will now seemingly be called Spider-Noir.
Created by Stan Lee, John Romita Sr., and Mickey Demeo, Robbie Robertson made his Marvel Comics debut in 1967’s Amazing Spider-Man #51. Typically a supporting character in Spider-Man stories, Robertson is an editor for the Daily Bugle and a close friend of J. Jonah Jameson. He was previously played by Bill Nunn in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films.
Morris is best known for playing Winston Bishop in New Girl. He also played the lead role in Hulu’s Woke series and had a substantial part in the fifth season of FX’s Fargo. He’s appeared in films such as 2018’s Game Night, 2018’s The Christmas Chronicles, 2019’s Yesterday, 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level, and 2020’s Bloodshot, while he’ll soon be seen playing Garrett Morris in Jason Reitman’s SNL 1975.
What else do we know about the Spider-Man Noir series?
Spider-Noir “tells the story of an aging and down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero,” according to Deadline.
Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serve as co-showrunners on Spider-Noir. Harry Bradbeer is directing and executive producing the first two episodes of the eight-episode series, while Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal also serve as executive producers.
Spider-Noir does not yet have a premiere date; however, the series will first debut on MGM+ before it then hits Amazon Prime Video.
