Following the immense success of 12th Fail, Vikrant Massey is all set to star in the upcoming thriller film, The Sabarmati Report. Initially, it was slated to hit theaters on May 3. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the release was rescheduled for August 2. Recent reports indicate that the film might face another significant delay.
Directed by Ranjan Chandel, the film is based on a real-life incident from 2002. Reportedly, Fifty-nine Hindu pilgrims died in a fire inside the Sabarmati Express near the Godhra railway station in Gujarat. It stars Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Riddhi. Additionally, Shobha Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, Ektaa R Kapoor, and Anshul Mohan produced the film under Balaji Motion Pictures banner.

Recent reports from PeepingMoon.com confirmed that director Ranjan Chandel has transferred his directorial duties for The Sabarmati Report to Ekta Kapoor and Tushar Hiranandani.
A source explained, “The idea of reshooting and adding new scenes to the movie did not sit well with Chandel, which led to creative disagreements with the producers. Due to their radically different sensibilities, Ekta and Chandel were unable to reach an understanding for this movie. Ekta consulted the actors, received their consent, and brought Tushar Hiranandani on board to finish the film.”
However, this significant change may cause further delays in the film’s release. Now, it is expected to hit theaters in September or October 2024.”
Another report stated, “The Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) Examining Committee had objections to certain scenes in the film. Furthermore, fearing that it might violate the model code of conduct laid down by the Election Commission of India. It has been advised that the release be postponed until after the final phase of elections on June 1.”
