Did Mercedes Mone Take a Jab at Charlotte Flair on AEW Dynamite?

Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks in WWE, took a subtle jab at Charlotte Flair on AEW Dynamite. During her time in WWE, Mone faced Flair in several matches, including Falls Count Anywhere, Hell in a Cell, and WrestleMania. Their rivalry has provided fans with countless memorable moments from their performances.

Although both stars are currently in different promotions, their fiery rivalry remains memorable to this day. Mercedes Mone is enjoying significant success in AEW, where she holds both the AEW TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Championships.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Flair has been out of action since December 2023. This is due to a knee injury sustained during an episode of WWE SmackDown, which required surgery and has kept her sidelined.

In the latest edition of AEW Dynamite, Mercedes Mone took to the ring to defend her AEW TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Championships against Emi Sakura. While preparing for her match, Mone participated in a backstage interview with Renee Paquette. During the interview, as Paquette asked about her upcoming match, Mone seized the opportunity to take a jab at WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair.

What did Mercedes Mone say about Charlotte Flair?

During the backstage interview, Mercedes Mone confidently stated that this would not be the first time she dethroned a queen. At that moment, it was a reference to Sakura, who shares that title. However, by bringing up her previous victories over a queen, Mone hinted at her rivalry with Charlotte Flair. The latter was famously known as “The Queen” in WWE.

Mercedes Mone successfully retained both titles when, in the final moments, Mone grabbed the ring skirt, distracting the referee. While the referee was fixing it, Mone delivered a kick to Sakura that sent her crashing into the ropes. This allowed Kamille to trip Sakura, enabling Mone to apply the Statement Maker for the victory.
