Yes, Kamala Harris Suffered From Insomnia After Biden’s Endorsement

Kamala Harris recently opened up about suffering from insomnia after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race. The Democratic nominee appeared for a new interview on the “All the Smoke” Special Edition episode. The segment saw Harris share her plans to boost the economy before the election. During the conversation, she also got candid about how she reacted after Biden endorsed her following his withdrawal from the race for the White House.

Kamala Harris says she wasn’t ‘sleeping so well’ after Biden endorsement

During one of the segments of “All the Smoke,” hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson asked Kamala Harris about her process and what she did while choosing her running mate after Joe Biden endorsed her. The 59-year-old shared that she ultimately made a decision based on her “gut” and selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. The vice president continued, “From the time that the president called me and told me he wasn’t running, I mean, it just like everything was in speedy, speedy motion.”

Kamala Harris then revealed her insomnia and shared she was “not sleeping so well.” She said, “That one morning I just, I mean, I had, I don’t know, a few hours’ sleep, I, you know, I would like to sleep.” The vice president told the hosts, “I just got up, I was like — so I just went out and got a pork roast and started marinating it.” Harris also recalled that her family was in town at the time. She said, “So they were very happy about the whole situation, but I just got up and started — everybody’s asleep — I just got up and started cooking.”

Earlier, while speaking about selecting Walz, Harris shared that although the two grew up in different parts of the country and experienced different cultures, they were raised with similar values. Talking about their upbringing, she noted, “Same people, hardworking people, straight-talking people, people who have values.” Harris said she found that “so familiar.”

Furthermore, the vice president explained that she went with her gut feeling. Before making the decision to pick Tim Walz, Kamala Harris had thought, “Do you have a connection to the people and in a life experience that is about just seeing people?”

Harris is currently in a tight race with Republican nominee and former president Donald Trump in national and swing-state polls. The 2024 presidential election is scheduled to take place on November 5.
