Jessica Biel Leaves Peacock’s The Good Daughter Series

Jessica Biel has put the makers of the limited series The Good Daughter searching for a new lead as she exits the project.

The decision comes after the news of Biel joining the series was made public in March 2024. Aside from playing the lead in The Good Daughter, Jessica Biel was also supposed to be a part of the Peacock series as an executive producer. The Good Daughter’s screenplay is taken from a novel of the same name authored by Karin Slaughter, who is also serving as a producer for the show.

According to a report by Deadline, Jessica Biel has walked away from Peacock’s limited series The Good Daughter, which is currently in production. However, the streaming service has not revealed any details about the reason behind the actress’ walkout.

Furthermore, the outlet also states that The Good Daughter makers are currently looking for a new lead actress to play the character of Charlotte Quinn, the role that Jessica Biel was supposed to portray on screen. Novelist Karin Slaughter will write all the episodes so that the series stays loyal to the source material.

The Good Daughter is the story of two sisters and the events that transpire in their lives following a tragic attack on their family. As per Karin Slaughter’s website, the synopsis of the book talks about an event from 28 years ago, when ”Charlotte and Samantha Quinn’s (the sisters) happy small-town family life was torn apart by a terrifying attack.” The description details how the attack resulted in their mother’s death and how their father, who was a famous attorney in Pikeville, was left ”devastated.”

It further details the return of Charlotte Quinn to the town 28 years later as ”a lawyer herself–the ideal good daughter” following the footsteps of her father. However, violence hits Pikeville again, and Charlotte Quinn finds herself reliving the memories from 28 years ago. Following this, she embarks on the journey to unearth the truth behind the tragedy that struck her in the past.
