What Happened to Joe Mixon? NFL Injury Update
The Houston Texans have encountered some difficulties in their NFL run this year. On Sunday, September 22, the Texans suffered a massive loss against the Minnesota Vikings, with the team’s running back Joe Mixon‘s absence standing out. Numerous high-profile players have found themselves sidelined this season due to injuries. Texans fans are now increasingly concerned after their team’s latest injury-related setback.
Here’s all the latest information on Joe Mixon’s injury and whether he participated in the Houston Texans’ practice for the next match.
According to a Pro Football Network report, the Houston Texans’ medical team evaluations ruled that Mixon sustained an ankle injury. The injury occurred during the game against the Chicago Bears in Week 2. As per the report, during the third quarter of the game, T.J. Edwards, the linebacker for the Chicago Bears, tried to bring down Mixon on the field using a hip-dop tackle, which is officially banned by the NFL.
Due to this, Mixon had to leave the field immediately as he was seen limping in the videos of the incident posted on X. However, Mixon made a comeback shortly after but his play was limited on the field, ultimately leading to his exit from the squad in Week 3.
Mixon did raise questions against the tackle, as no flag was called. He expressed his feelings on X, ”The NFL and NFLPA made it a rule and an emphasis for a reason. Time to put your money where your mouth is.” Following this, the NFL imposed a fine of $16,833 on T.J. Edwards.
When will Joe Mixon return to play with the Houston Texans?
The status of Joe Mixon’s return is still a mystery as the Houston Texans provided no clear statement. According to The Houston Chronicle, Mixon has been out of practice even in Week 3. As such, his chances of returning anytime in Week 4 aren’t high.
