Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Casts Resident Evil Star as Zeus’ Daughter Thalia

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 has cast Resident Evil’s Tamara Smart as Thalia.

The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians premiered on Disney+ in December 2022. Based on the book series of the same name by Rick Riordan, the series received positive reviews from critics and was renewed for a second season in February 2024.

Now, Disney has announced in a press release that Tamara Smart will play Thalia in the second season of the series.

“Thalia is the Demigod daughter of Zeus who made her last stand to protect her friends at the edge of Camp Half-Blood,” Disney said of the character. “Rather than let her die, Zeus transformed her into a tree that anchors the force field that protects camp. Tough and prickly, with a rebel/punk sensibility, Thalia is fiercely loyal to her friends and distrustful of her father’s world.”

What else do we know about Tamara Smart’s role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2?

Smart will be a recurring guest star in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. The series also stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer.

Smart played a younger version of Jade Wesker in Netflix’s Resident Evil series, which was released in 2022. Jake Wesker was the daughter of the late Lance Reddick’s character, Albert Wesker. Coincidentally, Reddick played Zeus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1.

“I’m so grateful and excited to be joining the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” Smart said. “It’s so close to my heart. Lance Reddick and I always spoke about working together again, so it’s that much more special and important to me to play his daughter once more as Thalia, and to keep his memory alive. I feel his presence all around me and strive to make him proud on this exciting journey.”

Smart has also starred in 2020’s Artemis Fowl, 2020’s A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting, and 2022’s Wendell & Wild.

“Thalia Grace is one of the most important characters in the Percy Jackson universe, so the right casting was critical,” Riordan said. “Thalia is a powerful warrior, a fiercely loyal friend, and a demigod rebel with a very ‘punk’ / ‘rage-against-the-machine’ sensibility. As soon as we saw Tamara Smart play this role, we knew we had found our daughter of Zeus. She was, no pun intended, electric. Tamara puts the ‘grace’ in Thalia Grace!”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2025 on Disney+.
