Agatha All Along: Why Doesn’t Anyone Say Wanda’s Name in Westview?
Agatha All Along‘s latest episode has dropped, and fans are wondering why Westview people can’t utter Wanda’s name. Three years after the events of WandaVision, Agatha, now Agnes, leads a detective series, Agnes in Westview. She is tasked with investigating a distressing murder in Westview that turns her life upside down.
As the show continues to allude to Wanda, many specifically want to know why no one says her name. Let’s find out why.
Why don’t the Westview residents say Wanda’s name in Agatha All Along?
The bad memories, fear, and trauma are attached to her name following the events of WandaVision, wherein she mentally and physically controls the whole town. As the Westview residents don’t see her as a hero but a bad influence, they avoid taking her name.
Agatha All Along is set three years after the events of WandaVision, where the audience saw the ultimate showdown between Agatha and Wanda for power. In the final scenes, using Agatha’s wise lesson against her, she absorbs all her magic, eventually becoming the Scarlet Witch. Moreover, as a punishment, she wipes off her memories and leaves her to rot in Westview as a nosy neighbor, Agnes. While she defeats the villain of her story, she initially remains unaware of playing an antagonistic part in the lives of Westview residents.
Wanda led an idyllic life with Vision in Westview but it came at the cost of controlling everything in Westview through her powers. She created a facade and everyone residing in it was held captive physically and mentally. Although she didn’t know it initially, she realized having hurt people in the final moments. Thus, Vision requests Wanda to end her hex and free the innocent people. She agrees to do it, sacrificing her husband and children. Nevertheless, she goes away from Westview and isn’t seen as a hero for sacrificing anything.
As Agatha All Along resumes the Westview story, it’s clear the residents are still traumatized by the Scarlet Witch. Therefore, they avoid taking her name. Moreover, an easter egg also sees “the evil witch” and Wanda’s symbol sprayed at the foundation of Wanda’s past house in Episode 2. This also indicates that the residents now perceive her as evil due to her control and the harmful nature exhibited in the Disney Plus series.
