Aside from notching a historic win for his team, Harry Kane also managed to secure a total of four records to his name. Prior to yesterday’s game, the 31-year-old forward had recorded 29 goals in the Champions League throughout his career. With his four goals vs Dinamo, Kane furthered his tally to 33 and simultaneously became the top English goalscorer in the competition’s history. He effectively surpassed Wayne Rooney’s tally of 30 UCL goals, who had previously held the record.

Despite besting his compatriot, Kane only had words of praise for the Manchester United legend. “Whenever you’re in a conversation with Wayne Rooney, it means you’re doing something well,” the striker said, as per BBC. “He’s one of the greatest English players and one of the best players there was in the game. It’s a nice achievement.”

The 100-capped England international also became the first English player to bag four goals in a single Champions League fixture. Additionally, Harry Kane is the only English player to score three or more goals in the UCL for a non-English side. With three of his four goals coming from the spot, the veteran attacker broke yet another record by becoming the first player to secure a hat-trick of penalties in a Champions League game.

On the team front, Bayern Munich also reveled in their masterful performance, becoming the first team to score nine goals in a single UCL game. The Bavarians will now face Aston Villa in their second Champions League match of the season.
