Micah Hyde NFL Retirement Rumors Explained
Micah Hyde has been a mainstay in the NFL ever since he made his professional debut with the Green Bay Packers in 2013. Having played for the Packers for four seasons, the football safety eventually switched allegiances to the Buffalo Bills in 2017. Despite becoming pivotal in the Bills’ setup, Hyde’s career has always been plagued by injuries. His poor fitness record has even led the 33-year-old athlete to become a free agent this year. As such, fans have wondered if the lack of a team has caused Hyde to embrace retirement.
Here are all the details regarding Micah Hyde’s supposed retirement from the game.
Is Micah Hyde retiring from the NFL?
At the time of writing, the Ohio-born sportsman has yet to hang up his playing boots officially.
Nevertheless, the player has given his fans a hint regarding his future now that he is not involved with any NFL side. While talking to Jon Scott of WGRZ, Micah Hyde revealed that he’ll either turn up for the Bills in 2024 or accept retirement.
“You guys know how difficult it was with my neck and having those stingers. So I just said, let me get away from it a little bit,” Hyde said, as per NBC Sports. “And if the time comes and the juices get flowing again, then we’ll try to give it a spin. But, there’s no rush at all on my side.”
Giving further updates on his retirement, Micah Hyde disclosed that he has had open discussions with the Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott. “Just got done talking to them, and we’re all on the same page,” the player said. “I am 33 years old, man. I want to have a healthy life, and my family is the most important thing to me. At the same time, I do want to win a Super Bowl — that’d be pretty damn awesome. So, we’ll see. We’ll take it day by day.”
Despite his suggestive comments, Micah Hyde has not officially announced his retirement and remains a free agent.
