Saw this with my dad when it came out. The big screen was a great experience. It was one of my dad’s favorite so I flicks and he was a hard core sci-fi fan.
This scene wasn't initially to be in the movie. As someone who watched the movie many times. This scene really is a great bonus.
Ridley Scott probably left the alien alive on purpose so he could bring him back for a second movie, but they went on a bigger scale for the second movie and fought a whole bunch of new ones. Little did he know in 2024 they would actually bring this same alien back for another movie. However, it kind of loses its point because it's not Ripley rematching the alien but a bunch of kids
I was starting a new job in 1979 and was living in San Jose, and had a few days off. The movie had just opened and was in one of the first run houses (I remember the building was dome-shaped) in SJ. We went to a middle of the week matinee and there weren't many of us there (no social media then…word of mouth drove the success of films ) in that big theatre. I was with a buddy and his girlfriend. She sat between us and was unfazed, while he and I freaked out. Scariest film I'd seen at the time.
And to think Big Chap survived this and later went on to terrorize the crew on the Romulus.
RIP Bolaji Badejo who played the iconic "Big Chap" xenomorph
Aaaaaand it was alive…
The most terrifying thing is realizing it may still be alive even in deep space
Man Ripley had some real problems to deal with.
0:47 So long alien 😂😂😂😂
The alien survives this btw
This is how my wife feels after killing the roach she has known was in the kitchen the last 4 hours and now she can safely rest…
Finally watches this and Aliens 1979 last night, perhaps the best films about aliens, wasn’t born till 97’ so I missed out on the hype of those OG movies.
Who's watching this after seeing Alien Romulus? 😂
Wow😊
0:45 just making sure if it was the same harpoon from Alien Romulus
Anyone came back after watching Alien: Romulus?
Fun Fact: In the 2003 special edition interview for Alien, Ridley revealed that Ripley initially was supposed to die towards the end after harpooning the Alien (to no avail as it proceeded to kill her). After which, the Xenomorph would make it’s way into the cockpit of the shuttle, contact the station, and mimic Dallas’s voice to set up coordinates to earth. However, the executives at Fox threaten to fire Ridley if he didn’t change the ending as they believed it would’ve of affected Sigourney Weaver’s (the actress who played Ripley) chances of becoming a star (with them quoting that it was the “worst idea they ever heard”). Thus, Ripley was spared and later appeared in the following sequels.
Turns out after nearly 50 -60 years Big Chap survived and was responsible for the events of the newest movie Alien Romulus hell he was recovered during the films opening went on a rampage through the station before being killed for good but severing as a overarching antagonist for Romulus and having many cloned children from his Dna thanks to Wyland yutani being Wyland Yutani and even a Human/Xeno Son or GrandSon in the Newborn 2.0
"Last survivor of the Nostro- oh, and my little buddy Jonesy here. Who's a good kitty? Who's a good kitty? Anyway, yeah- signing off."
0:47 Who says no one can hear you scream in space?
