  1. The electricity in that rod have selective traveling.

When it first stunned the guy, the electricity doesn't travel to Sherlock Holmes's neck through the thug's hand.

And when Holmes touches the pipe with the rod, the electricity travels straight to the guy rather than disperse to other pipe direction, like up and down the verticle pipe before hitting the thug.

  2. This is such a brilliant piece of cinematography. The excellent mix of inflections, music, action, and clever use of French in just the right way…perfecto! This is one of my favorite movies to re-watch.

  3. The tone of the first movie got me, the second was a little disappointing. But the general idea remains. This might be "only" an action movie version of the source material, but I enjoy it as exactly that.
I grew up with the A-Team and MacGyver, so this was pretty neat even with the deviation from the original lore.

  4. Another fascinating detail is when Holmes touches the stun device to the pipes, he specifically waits until the big guy rests the butt of the knife on the pipe. As if he was waiting for that metal to metal contact to provide an ample current path. The big guy was touching the pipe for a few seconds, almost signifying that Holmes was anticipating that action. Fascinating.

  5. This is one of the few scenes which we DO NOT see Holmes’s clairvoyance when in a fight.

It’s as if to suggest unlike the other scenes, Holmes has nothing to go on, this will be an uncoordinated brawl

  6. He plays second fiddle to Holmes' more wacky antics but I appreciate the respect on Watson in this scene. Absolutely goes to town on those two guys and only really loses at the last second when they pull a knife
