Leviathan Teaser Trailer Previews Netflix’s Mecha War Anime Series
Netflix has released the Leviathan teaser trailer for its upcoming anime series adaptation of Scott Westerfeld and Keith Thompson’s 2009 novel of the same name. The story will take place in an alternate history revolving around World War I. It is scheduled to make its debut sometime in 2025.
“In 1914, on the eve of war, a fugitive prince and a girl in disguise meet aboard a bioengineered airship, the HMS Leviathan, and change the course of history,” reads the show’s official logline.

What happens in the Leviathan teaser trailer?
The video provides viewers with a first look at the anime’s main character, Aleksandar of Hohenberg, who is the prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The teaser also highlights the show’s action-packed sequences involving mecha war machines. At the moment, Netflix has yet to reveal its voice cast.
Leviathan is directed by Christophe Ferreira with Qubic Pictures (Eden, Star Wars: Visions) producing the series. Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi (Ghost In The Shell SAC_2045, Metal Gear Solid 4) are handling the anime’s music. According to Westerfield, he has been very involved during the show’s production, promising fans that the anime will be a “mostly super faithful” adaptation. It is a production by Orange, who is best known for its work on BEASTARS and Land of the Lustrous.
