I'm not sure Evil Ed fully died. We hear his voice at the very end of the movie, saying "You're so cool Brewster!" Maybe that was just his ghost roaming around.
Most people seem to think The Lost Boys was the best vampire movie of the 80’s but Fright Night stands head and shoulders above it. The Lost Boys is a really fun movie but it simply doesn’t have the emotional weight that Fright Night does. Especially Roddy McDowell’s performance as Peter Vincent. He undergoes a full arc from a disinterested and disillusioned host of a failing show, to a faithless coward, and finally to someone who finds his faith and bravery. They all put in great performances and everyone had a purpose.
Only British actors can do what Roddy McDowell did. That scene took too long, but he sells every moment of pity, and pathos. The only other vampire death scene that gets me like this one did, was Kiefer Sutherlands performance in The Lost Boys. He really pulled one out of the ether the way he came off like he KNEW he was going to hell and damnation, and it was his last moment on earth, and the real human came forth; pain, fear, and remorse.
My only critique of the film. They lingered on the death of Evil Ed a bit too long.
One of the best death scenes in horror movies history! So terrifying and sad at the same time. And the practical effects are just amazing!!

I love 80's synth sound effects in death scenes

Why didn't he save that prosthetic thing …
Not only is this a top-notch horror movie, it also demonstrates the amazing practical f/x of movies back then. There was NO CGI in this movie!

Werewolf Transformation
Muito Triste Essa Cena
This is so sad 😢😢😢
0:17 wolf with red eyes, that's what my inner rage looks like
Actually, according to ending – I don´t think Ed´s dead
Well, he didn't explode or melt on death like the neighbour vampire and theres the final scene of Evil Eds red eyes and brewster quote.
I cant imagine how they explained that to the police later…
Great great movie! The sequel is awesome too.
I cried when i saw this scene . EVIL was just a KID . I would had helped him .
