When the cruise ship is knocked over by the tsunami while the people are in the kitchen, all the kitchen equipment and the food fall onto the floor and scatter all over the place!
No captain nor sailor would ever turn their ship broadside against a large wave.
To be honest, even with waves this big, the carrier would go straight into it and with over 100,000 hp and capable of speed above 35 kn on a nuclear powered 1,000 foot-long carrier. You probably could cross the wave if you went straight into it full ahead.
The cruise ship has much less horsepower vs the nuclear powered aircraft carrier, to push itself over the wave, however out at sea, the waves wouldn’t be that steep, so they could’ve probably made it too.
And again, there’s just no way that the cruise ship captain wouldn’t at least try to get over the wave by turning directly into it
this movie is so tragic because at the end there is no happy ending…. the ones who helped prepare for the disaster along with the common people abandoned and just left to die, most of the survivors are military, corrupt politicians and rich folks who valued luxury and comfort more than saving lives, all of them undoubtedly will enslave the "lesser ones" surviving to build them a new society where they can remain at the top
Roland Emmerich will always be one of the most underrated talents in Hollywood for me. Sure his films are over the top cheese, but they still have skill and heart too. The man has a clear passion for making pure entertainment.
Gonna tell my kids this movie is historically accurate and that I’m a badass.
why everyone on the white house lawn asleep?
Don't worry guys they are still alive. At least in the deleted scenes 🤣 PS you can search it up 2012 deleted scenes
This reminds me of the Poseidon trilogy 😅😅😊
The movie was really awesome in effects but very stupid in the end where the government secretly built arcs knowing this event was coming.
Funny how people thought the world would end in 2012 only for nothing to happen like Y2K

So the JFK got lifted out of Philadelphia and directly hit the White House. Ok

2:07 If you look to the right, the Megatsunami also was carrying an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer.
2:09 A DCFD firefighter also survived the initial earthquake, right behind President Wilson.
I wonder if the the cruise ship and aircraft carrier, or any big ship, could have survived the tsunamis if they were moving towards them?
Im built so different from the opposition for surviving this.
I'm glad they cut the alternative ending where Harry and the ship survived the tsunami coz that's impossible.
Im just chilling in New zealand rn cant belive we fine
1:42 Poseidon movie flashbacks
I wanted to prank kids by telling them I lived through that, but I’ll just wait till they’re old enough and tell them about 2020 😂
2:07 An Arleigh Burke-class destroyer was also claimed by the Megatsunami.
2:08 A DCFD firefighter was also still alive, squirming right behind President Wilson.
Everyone born after 2012 I survived this

There are nuclear subs sitting pretty anywhere. They safe until their supplies run out.
What really irks me is why did the cruise ship not ship towards the tsunami instead of going sideways? The ship would've probably made it by then
Poseidon
This is why I'm afraid of working in cruise ship
